Pink Elephant Challenge

Pink Elephant have a great sketch by Carol for us to follow this week.

I have just received some gorgeous Eline Pellinkov stamped images from the fabulous Larissa, who make the most fantastic cards, she had a style of her own, simple, elgant, stunning - pay her a visit and see for yourselves. I have always loved Eline Pellinkov babies and cats but never realized she did stamps. I felt the sketch at Pink Elephant was perfect for one of these images.

I have a Christening to attend in a few weeks time and decide to make a card for this purpose. I found some pink gingham vellum in my stash and decided to use grey as a second colour. I cut the strips with a corner/border cutter, punched holes with my cropodile and threaded ribbon through them. I frayed the ends of a piece of white ribbon and threaded that through a large pink brad and used this as the center of the flower.

I kept the inside fairly simple - I wasn't too happy with one image I coloured so rather than throw (too precious) it I cut the piece I was happy with and used it on the inside.

Truly Scrumptious Challenge #5

I used bazzill swiss dots as my basic cardstock along with Basic Grey's Granola papers.
I mixed modelling paste with Ranger distress inks to get the chocolate colour for the icing - the downside to this...it took forever to dry. Too much icing? - probably.
My silly head took over at this point and the WOJ Henry the party mouse - ( just look at that expression on his face) crept in to run off with one of the cupcakes.
Last week the Gorjuss girls' cat kept creeping into my cards. I finished it with a candle (eek! only had pink ones - fortunately I'd colour Henry's ears pink) and one of the Cutting Cafe circlar sentiments cut with round nestabilities.

Whoopee - back on line!!

I was happily commenting away this morning when my internet connection crashed. Mr Firefox apologised and asked me to send a report, I did, then again and again and again. After about a dozen reports I gave up and went to work much frustrated. I haven't had a problem since switching to Firefox as my server until today - but when I got home - bingo everything back to normal...phew!!

Sketch and Stash have a fabulous sketch this week , love it and will certainly be using this one again. My new are the K&C0 papers (Wild Raspberry Blue Circles) and my small blue roses. I've had most of my small roses for ages, from when I used to do Wedding invites etc. but never blue ones. The image - Sarah Kay Spring Blossoms is coloured with Copics and cut with Nesties lables 4.

Stampacular Sunday Challenge - Charmed

'Charmed' is Stampacular's challenge this week. I had intended to use a little 'girl' charm, but had a sheet of shrink plastic on my table waiting for me to pluck up the courage to use it. I've had some real disasters with shrink plastic - last time it got stuck to my nail and was there for ages before I had the sense to use a nail file to file it down. I've since had my gel nails removed - so no danger of that this time. I plucked up the courage and went for it - it is a little dark although I coloured it as lightly as possible - probably shouldn't have used Copics. Don't you just love this little Miss Attitude ? Anyone whose had a little girl will probably recognise this stance - come to think of it I still do it sometimes!!
I coloured her with Copics and mounted her on Nesties labels 4.

I had a few problems with this one - ie no suitable get well image - eek!!! Now there's a gap in my stash that will have to be filled (tee hee), meanwhile time to be resourceful!

I coloured my image Wishin' Well with copics and use Dovecraft Abstract Print papers. The borders and corners are cut with an EK Success border/corner punch and the sentiment computer generated.

Sketch Saturday

Sketch Saturday have a another fabulous sketch this week.

I received this fabulous RAK and ever so cute card from my lovely, adorable Blogging sister De and just couldn't wait to use two of the stamps by PMS which I haven't seen before. 'Scuse the photographs - I've tried inside, outside, upstairs, downstairs, sunlight, shade - you name it I've tired it and can't get decent photo's. I've had this problem with mauve/violet colours before - I don't think my camera likes them !!

The backing paper is K&C0 - don;t ask what - I did the usual of cutting of the bottom
before making a note. I coloured the image with Copics and stamped the sentiment
on a nestie ribbon tag. Fabulous sentiment and De I wish you were here and I could
give you a great big hug.

I actually remembered to photograph the inside this time - I've been forgetting
(probably my age- lol) !!

Colour Create #13 - Orange, green & brown

Just a simple card this week as it's for a man - no pun intended!! It is so difficult not to add ribbons and flowers and lace etc. A sentiment would have been good though - derrr...
I got this owl from America and I've had him owl for ages - he has a mate too who seems to have flown the nest at the moment as I can't find her anywhere. The brown cardstock is bazzill, the orange Basic Grey and the green K&Co . I coloured the owl with watercolours amd cut some leaves with a woodware punch for the corners.

I broke into my new Lime Rickey papers for this week's challenge - and Oh boy are they bright!! This really took me out of my comfort zone - bright colours are not my thing.
I used a SN image sent to me by the fabulous Martine and kept the colouring (with Copics) quite light so that she would stand out from the papers. At least with these papers I got to use my flourescent orange flowers (I thought they were peach when I sent for them - lol) although I did 'calm' them down somewhat with by putting a paler one on top. I used that fluffy stuff (can't think what it's called) on the lamb and a sentiment (well half of it) from Royal Langernickel.

Just Magnolia #2 - Pink & Green

Pink and Green is the theme at Just Magnolia this week. I decided to do a very simple card - but it didn't quite happen. It looked so bare I had to add something. I've been playing with ribbon the last few weeks, I've plaited it, curled it - this time I decided to twist it and make a seat/swing for Tilda. I designed and printed the stripe paper to co-ordinate with the downloaded paisley paper by Verena Karolyi. Tilda is coloured with distress inks and used foam tape to sit her on her swing.

Copic Colour Challenge

The Copic Colour challenge have the following colours to work with this week.

Now I am becoming more confident in my use of Copics I decided to give it a whirl. I think something has finally clicked in my brain on how to use them. Not before time since I have some for almost a year!!

This card is for someone who wanted "simple" - eeeek!!! - I don't do simple. I used Magnolia's Alva with flower image and coloured her stocking and T shirt/vest with B02 and B39 and her flower with RV34. I've had the BP for ages and wondered what I'd bought it for and when I was ever going to use it - but it turned out perfect for the colours. I cut the image and sentiment out with Nesties labels 4 and coloured the inners with chalks (not brave enough to do this with Copics -lol). I'm actually pleased with the result and just hope the person I've made the card for likes it.

Whiff of Joy challenge #27 Heather Sketch

Whiff of Joy have a fabulous sketch by Heather this week - one htat I shall definitely be using again. I have used Melinda with muffin basket (inked up for the first time) and coloured her with copic. I am becoming happier with my use of Copics but still have a way to go!! I decided to ink up my own background paper using Basic Grey flourish stamps. The middle piece is printed from a download and distressed with inks. I've cut out and mounted Melinda on nestie labels 4. I'm not happy with the sentiment and will probably change this when I've made up my mind what to use. (Indecisive is my middle name at the moment)

Double Dutch #16 - Do not Disturb

Double Dutch have come up with another fabulous challenge.
This one came just at the right time for me - the lock on my bathroom door has broken and I'm unable to get the parts to fix it, I think I shall have to replace the whole thing - but meanwhile here is a door hanger to let people know when not to enter.
I used the PB image It's Your Day, coloured with copics and cut out with nesties labels 4 and attached it to some pale blue cs run through bug with the swiss dots folder.
I attached a 'Keep Out' label, cut a hole in the top and then proceded to do the stupid thing of laminating it before photographing it. Has anyone tried to photograph laminated cards etc? - not good!! It has hung and been photgraphed from every door
in my house until eventually I found the dining room door was the best and it's still
not a good photograph.

Stampacular Sunday Challenge

Stampacular's challenge this week is Black, White + one other.
I pretty pleased with this one - not that it's a particularly good card - just that I manage to leave some white space. I've had some Basic Grey rub-ons for ages and decided it was time I used them. They have a sort of 'grunge' look and very fine detail so it would have been better had I used them on plain card instead of textured white linen as getting them to
stick became a nightmare.
I coloured Tilda with copics (Yay - another one!!) and sat her in a nestie frame.
The flowers are cut with the EK Success punch, and the sentiment one that has been 'knocking about' for ages.

I chose to do an English Springtime - daffodils and RAIN!!!

We used to have a static caravan up in the north 'Lakes' where I used escape for peaceful weekends. The springtime always reminded me of Wordworths poem 'Daffodils'

"I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils,
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze."

But always, always it rained!!!

I think this is why I love the HM image (Gentle rain) so much - it brings back
happy memories.

I used Basic Grey Periphery papers and coloured the image with distress inks. The corners are cut with the EK Succes corner/border punch and the swirls with the Sizzix die. The sentiment is Inkadinkado which I tried to make look like a puddle of rain at the bottom of the image - but I'm not sure it worked (lol)

Sketch Saturday

I flipped the sketch round to accomodate my image. I used Basic Grey Wisteria papers and Magnolia's Alva with flower image. And YAY!!! - I coloured her with my Copics (about time - I've had them long enough - almost a year -but almost everything so far has been consigned to the bin -' not good enough' - I'm getting better lol) I had intended to put a sentiment on one of the small rectangles but my sentiment stamps went MIA whilst things were packed away for the decorators and haven't re-appeared yet. I stamped some small dragonflies on vellum and heat embossed them with white glitter powder (o compliment the dragonflies on the paper) and attached a small drangonfly charm to the ribbon.

Colour Create 12

I really thought I had oodles of black, white, pink and polka dots until I came to look - but no. Plenty of polka dots but none in right colours. Never mind - I though - I'll print some out - but no again. My printer ran out of black ink and when I went for my refils I found I had two colour refills and no black & white. How did that happen?
I really thought I was going to have to hand draw my polka dots - eeeeeek!!!
I searched my stash - trashing the place in the process and eventually found some old (very old) peel off borders which when removed had tiny dots left over - phew!!

I coloured my gorjuss girl with distress inks and added the tiny dots to her dress - the cat crept in again so we gave him the same treatment. I cut them out and sat them on a matt run through the cuttlebug with the Swiss dot folder.
The papers are DCWV, the corners but with the vintage corner die and whilst searching for 'dots' I found some black feathers which I added under the flower.

I used Marrakech papers this week and paper pieced Willow and her chair. I used distress inks to colour the image and H2O'd the chair frame with gold. The Gorjuss girl's cat wandered in to keep Willow company and wouldn't leave. Really not much more to say about this one.

Just Magnolia's First Ever challenge.

Just Magnolia challenge started today with a fabulous sketch by Donalda. This was an absolute dream to work with and other than whizzing it round to accomadate the image better I followed it implicitly.

I just couldn't resist using my fabulous new Wisteria papers by Basic Grey. This image is curtesy of the lovely Tara - thanks honey (I have so many Magnolia images as yet not inked up I forbade myself from buying this last set - just get the ones you really like I told myself - hah!! I shall probably end up buying them all anyway - this one is a must - I just love Tilda's flicked up hair style). I coloured the image with distress inks and glittered the little bee's wings. The sentiment is computer generated due to the fact that since my son packed all by stash away to decorate I haven't been able to find half my sentiment stamps ...... grrrrrrrrrrr..............

The challenge at StampARTic this time is :-

"We keep testing the boundarys so this time we challange you to make a card without using bought decorations.
A small, small amount of either pearls, brads or bling are ok, IF you have to use it but try not to.
We want to see those homemade decorations now ;).. Or maybe do a card without any decorations at all...?

Punches, dies, scissors, handcutouts and so on are welcome in this challange.
You can´t use ribbons, lace, flowers if they are bought, you have to make them yourself :)".

I decided to use nothing bought other than paper and punches/dies. The paper is from Costco and I made the flowers with round nesties, cut the borders with the MS punch and the leaves with Leone Em punches.
Check Ikki's Cuttlebug Cupboard for a turtorial on how to make these flowers.
I really had a struggle resisting putting pearls in the center of the flowers but suceeded by using the Leone Em stamen punch. I've just realized I used a stamp - the sentiment.

Double Dutch #15 - Tea time!

Another fabulous challenge at Double Dutch - this time it is to make a tea-bag. I used blue pearlized card as my BC and papers from the Basic Grey Periphery range. I thought the Wog image Henry with his cupcake would be good and there is nothing like a cake with your cup of tea. Henry is coloured in distress inks. I used this as a little thank you gift and added the sentiment on the back together with flowers cut from the BG papers with the EK Success retro flower punch. I cut the large flower in half and attached half to the back and half to the front.

Truly Scrumptious

I chose papers by Raher which I bought in Germany last year and I flipped the sketch onto it's side to accomodate the image which is by Xelacrafts. I coloured the image with distress inks and partially cut out some of the leaves to overlap the image. I added corners cut with the vintage corner die and a tattered flower to finish it. I have this card in mind for my little neighbour Antony who frequently calls to see if I am 'Coming out to play' and I will add his name at the bottom at some point.

House Mouse Challenge - 33 - Multiple Images

A 'Circular Journal' Page

I'm on forum where we have going what we call a 'Circular Journal' and every six weeks

or so we send a page to a different member for their journal. It rotates so when we have finished we will all have keepsake made each of the other members. The pages are 6"x6"
so they can be kept in a small album.
We use the use the likes/preferences of the member we are making our current page for. This time I chose a blue/cream colour combination, Sugar Nellie images, ribbons, bows and flowers from the 'likes' list. The images are coloured with distress inks and I used downloaded papers from Designer Digitals. I mounted the SN image Reflective on nestabilites curved rectangles and left one side open as a pocket in which to slip a tag with the name of who the page is for, who it's from, the date and details of materials used etc.
I find it is so satisfying creating these pages knowing the person's preferences and
now I just have to hope she likes it!!

For someone whose favourite colour is brown I found rather strange that I couldn't find any brown/cream papers in my stash!!! Probably because I like them so much I keep using them. I did have brown and cream card so consequently ended up stamping my own backing paper. I used the WOJ image Willow with sunhat and coloured her with distress inks. I distressed the brown card with Basic Grey distressing tools and the cream and around the image with Walnut stain ink.

I turned the sketch around so suit the image better. I used Basic Grey Porcelain papers and Tilda with buuny image kindly sent by the lovely Tab - thanks sweetie!! I coloured the image with distress inks and decided to cut her out and place her on the card without a frame or mount. I plaited three ribbons tp fun across the card then immediately covered most of it up with the image - derrr.......... I attached a flower with beads and a charm at the top in place of the three elements on the sketch.

Basic Grey Challenge 30 - Chocolate Soft Centers

At Basic Grey this week as it's Easter we are thinking about chocolates and their soft centers and would like you to use them as the inspiration for your card. Mint - green and brown, raspberry - pink and brown etc. We can't wait to see what you come up with.

I chose chocolate orange creams - not that I like them especially, but I just drool over the colours of them. I used papers from Archaic, Ambrosia and Offbeat. I coloured my Gorjuss girl with distress re-inkers added flowers and ribbon and 'voila' one little chocolate orange cream.

I used K&Co McKenna papers and stamped my flourishes with Magnolia flourish swirl. I usedone of the Faerie Song pretty pixie images which I coloured with distress inks and mounted onto a couple of oval nesties.

I used the same basic layout on the inside but kept it fairly simple.

WOJ Challenge 25 - Katharina's Sketch

Whiff of Joy have a fabulous sketch my Katharina for us to follow this week. The papers are Papermania Exquisite which I think are just perfect for the beautiful Confirmand Melinda. I decided to give my Friskars border/embossing punch an outing as I thought the tiny hearts suited this card and used some tiny glass hearts as accents.
